Jewish Synagogue
How should we observe the Jewish Sabbath, when you are traveling in an area that has no synagogue or Jewish community?
My boyfriend and I, that Jews and are working to become religious to travel abroad for a small town in Germany on a business trip and will soon be there for Saturday, but there is no Jewish community in all, how should we go about observing the Sabbath?
Shabbat is what we do. The most important thing is to make sure in advance that they will have food and candles – or bring with you (especially if you want to keep kosher), or purchase as soon as possible when get there, then you know that you will not be surprised by the sunset. Try putting a small bottle of wine or grape juice with you and – if the city does not have much number of Jews and kosher wine or grape juice is one of the hardest things to find. A series of travel candles are easy to find, but if necessary, can use the glasses in his hotel room as a makeshift sail – it is much safer than putting candles on the sheet down. Have a good meal relax in your room hotel, and if you pray regularly, then take time for that too – it's OK to pray in private, if there is a synagogue. If the hotel does not have to use electronic key, to spend the afternoon of Saturday exploring the city – Take a walk, find a park, enjoying the day. If there is no way to enter or leave your hotel room without Sabbath breaking, and then stay – books to read or play cards or other game and perhaps a Jewish book that can be learned. First, the Sabbath is a day of rest – Enjoy. Only eat well (as good as can be expected in circumstances) and enjoy each other's company is in perfect keeping with the spirit of the day.
